MakersPlace Digital Art Platform Launches "Little Shark" NFT-Billboard

Pinkfong will release a six-piece series in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment on MakersPlace on Thursday.

So far, Pinkfong’s popular hit "Baby Shark" has spawned an animated TV series, a children’s book, and even Kellogg’s breakfast cereals. Now, the brand is expanding into the NFT field through a new series on the digital art platform MakersPlace.

The first Baby Shark NFT series is scheduled to debut at 3:30 pm PST on Thursday. It is a collaboration between Pinkfong's parent company SmartStudy and Pinkfong's global music partner Sony Music Entertainment/Relentless Records.

The six-piece series can now be previewed on MakersPlace, including one unique (1/1) piece and five limited edition pieces, inspired by the holographic collector's playing cards, and the original, loopable animation of the little shark Featured with his family. Each song is accompanied by audio quoting the song "Baby Shark".

This unique work named "Little Shark No. 1" is a one-minute digital NFT, which shows that the little shark "travels through a newly reimagined dreamlike underwater world, observed through the lens, and portrayed in fascinating new light. Little Shark," according to the press release. The visually played music is described as "a classically created, customized electronic piece built around the original song." The winner of this work will receive a custom vinyl record produced by Pinkfong for NFT, which contains music from the digital work and accompanying artwork.

In August, Sony Music joined Eminem, former Def Jam CEO Paul Rosenberg and DJ 3LAU to join MakersPlace’s $30 million Series A financing. The following month, Sony Music announced the establishment of a strategic partnership with MakersPlace, and Sony artist Shakira provided audiovisual NFT on the platform.

Since its debut on YouTube in June 2016, "Baby Shark" has obtained the RIAA diamond certification with more than 11 million copies sold; this song also reached the 32nd peak in Billboard's Hot 100. It is currently the most viewed YouTube video in history, with more than 9.7 billion views so far.

"This marks the beginning of our foray into the NFT world, and this is an important next chapter in Baby Shark's journey," Pinkfong USA CEO Bin Jeong said in a statement. "As a sensation born on the Internet, Baby Shark's acceptance of NFT is a natural progression, and we are very happy to share this experience with the community."

Dannie Chu, co-founder and CEO of MakersPlace, added: “In the past year, we have seen strong demand from the community for music-inspired NFTs. We hope to expand our presence by providing platforms, tools, and curatorial support. Products in this field to help bring great audiovisual works to the blockchain.
