AMD’s board partners reused their old Navi 12 GPU inventory in the form of BC-160 for the crypto mining market. One such model that was leaked in early October is now on sale for $2,000.

Earlier, it was reported that AMD’s main partners and AIB XFX are developing their own encrypted mining cards. We have seen other AMD partners, such as Sapphire and PowerColor, have also launched their own mining cards, but these cards are based on the RDNA 2 architecture. The XFX BC-160 card is based on the older RDNA 1 architecture.

In terms of specifications, XFX’s AMD BC-160 cryptographic mining card currently in production uses 7nm Navi 12 GPU, with 36 computing units encapsulating 2304 cores. The card has 8GB of HBM2 memory, clocked at 1.6 Gbps pin speed, and runs through a 2048-bit bus interface, so there are two HBM2 stacks on the package, each with a 2 GB stack and 512 GB/s bandwidth .

The card is equipped with 150W TGP, ETH output is 69.5 MH/s, PPW is 0.46. This is a lower PPW than the entry-level RDNA 2 (Navi 23) product, as shown in the figure below:

Through optimized settings, the card can provide speeds up to 72.30 MH/s at 123W, resulting in a slightly better PPW rating.

AMD BC-160 mining card is optimized to run in Linux Ubuntu/RedHeat operating system and can be used in 12x GPU farms. The card itself uses a dual-slot design with a custom PCB, and provides active cooling (blower) and standard passive cooling design. Power is provided through the dual 8-pin connector on the back, and like every mining card, it uses a headless design.

The graphics card is currently listed on AliExpress at a price of $2,000, which is higher than the Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card and produces a slightly higher hash rate.
