Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) has started shipping their limited edition Secret Lair x Street Fighter Magic: The Gathering (MTG) cards to the folks that were lucky enough to pre-order them earlier this year, and I was among those fortunate few who did so. Today we've got a couple of unboxings to share with you that will give you a closer look at what all you'll get with both of the special sets that were released by WOTC.

These limited edition collectibles feature the classic World Warriors depicted with unique artwork over some of MTG's classic cards. They come in a non-foil version and a traditional foil version, so be sure to continue on for unboxings of both!

Back in August of last year, WOTC announced that they would be adding Street Fighter to their list of amazing crossovers with Magic: The Gathering in 2022, and eventually pre-orders would go live in February. The window for getting pre-orders in was small, so if you didn't get in when they were live, you are out of luck and now at the mercy of the secondary market.

This Street Fighter X MTG crossover is part of Wizards of the Coast's Secret Lair Drop Series. A Secret Lair drop sees existing Magic cards reprinted with new and special artwork that is sometimes themed and featuring other IPs — in this case Capcom's Street Fighter.

Secret Lair drops are print-to-order, so only the amount that is actually ordered and purchased by the people will ever be printed for any given drop. Needless to say, these drops end up being fairly highly coveted, and it absolutely stands to reason why.

Included in each of the Secret Lair x Street Fighter drops are eight standard cards featuring the original eight playable characters in Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior, the classic title that started it all on February 6, 1991. E. Honda, Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Guile, Blanka, and Zangief are all included in these sets, and both the non-foil and foil sets are comprised of the exact same cards — the only difference being one set is holographic and the other isn't.

Also included is a special Hadoken card as the 9th and final of the batch. The artwork depicts Ryu's gloved hands firing off a large projectile in front of the big bell in the background of M. Bison's Street Fighter 2 stage.

Each drop comes in special packaging that greets those who open them with the classic "here comes a new challenger!" message we see when someone joins the fight in Street Fighter.

This is an amazing set of cards to have for Street Fighter fans, and if you're a TCG head like me, this Secret Lair drop is that much better.
