A Take-Two Interactive earnings call has revealed that Marvel’s Midnight Suns is delayed to later this fiscal year, “to ensure the teams at Firaxis Games and 2K deliver the best possible experience for our fans” (via IGN). The company’s fiscal year ends in March 2023, so Marvel’s Midnight Suns could be delayed to as late as then. Additionally, not even all versions of the game will release at once. Only the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC versions will launch within this window; the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions will arrive sometime later.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns had already been delayed once, as it was originally announced to launch in March 2022 but was then delayed to October. The game is a card-based tactical experience from the XCOM developers where you play an original custom-made character, the Hunter, who teams up with a bunch of Marvel superheroes to stop the evil Lilith, who can corrupt anyone with a single touch. So far in trailers, Lilith has corrupted the likes of Venom and the Hulk. Gameplay will involve using three different types of cards to activate your superhero team’s special abilities and defeat villains. There’s no word yet on if it will be as frightfully challenging as XCOM.
Following this delay, Marvel’s Midnight Suns will launch as late as March 2023 on PS5, XSX, and PC, with the Switch, PS4, and XB1 versions coming afterward.
