Sight words are an essential part of the first-grader journey with reading. Below are three lists of common sight words for first grade.

The following list contains 41 Dolch sight words for 1st grade. You can put these on sight words flashcards or make a sight word game to make learning fun.

You can also print them out and have your child trace the sight words so they can practice writing them too!

The following list contains the first 100 Fry sight words for first grade. As with the Dolch sight words list, these too are awesome on flash cards. These are great examples of sight words to practice with your first grader.

You can also use colored paper to make flashcards and separate them by the letter they begin with.

The list below contains the top 150 written words. You can print these on digital task cards to help them learn. There are also great interactive resources online to help children practice learning and writing these words.

Another great activity is to print the words on different color paper based on the letter they begin with. You can use construction paper and write them on yourself for an easy activity.

When kids practice these words it helps them practice correct spelling and fine motor skills.
