Portland's Aaron Voronoff Trotter has opened up a niche market for himself in the past ten years. He is the artist and producer of Illustrated Playing Cards. They are not ordinary playing cards, but are drawn separately based on locations and highlighting locations he saw in Portland and cities around the world. His most recent big trip took place before the pandemic: In January 2019, he flew westward to the rest of the world for two months, sketching images in the six cities of Taipei, Hong Kong, New Delhi, Jerusalem, Istanbul, and Athens. His previous projects included Portland landmarks, which included 52 cards with (apparently) images of landmarks and neighborhoods. He also created Portland's Secrets in lush watercolor paintings, focusing on parks, gardens, mountain views and trails. The Portland Beer Trail is a self-guided tour of 52 different breweries; the Oregon winery has a tasting room between Portland and Salem. He also customized sets for the Oregon Beer Trail, Oregon Coast, Bend, Eugene, Astoria, Cannon Beach, Northeast Alberta Street, North Mississippi Avenue, Trailblazers, Oregon State University, and the Promenade . Oh, and his playing card sales funded travel across the country, from Seattle to Washington, DC to New Orleans, and international cities from London to Berlin to Moscow to Tokyo, which led to the playing card series. If you like playing cards and/or cool art, then it is worth visiting www.illustratedplayingcards.com. Trotter is also a frequent visitor to the Portland Saturday Market. The final winner is...
