Customs officials seized 7.6 tons of fake Pokémon cards, which were allegedly found on the way to the Netherlands.

According to Nintendo Life, a fake Pokémon card weighing 7.6 tons was intercepted by customs officers at Shanghai Pudong Airport.

The fake card boxes were shipped by a company in eastern China and were reportedly seized on the way to the Netherlands. According to China Business News, the interception marked the "largest fraudulent IP theft in recent years."

In addition to lowering the price of legitimate cards, counterfeit cards also face the risk of becoming a low-quality product. As card games are still very popular, fraudulent cards have spread. As Nintendo Life pointed out, between 2020 and 2021 alone, 3.7 billion Pokémon cards were sold.

In the more legitimate Pokémon news, a digital Pokémon card game for PC and mobile devices was announced, but the release date was not mentioned. Recently, the Pokémon Go live broadcast event attracted more than 20,000 fans, while 6 million Pokémon were captured.

Earlier this month, Pokémon Company celebrated the 25th anniversary of the series with a Pikachu crystal worth £19,500. Only 25 pieces of this expensive statue were made, but there are also some cheaper items.

Universal Studios Japan also announced the establishment of a "partnership" with Pokémon Company, which will enable Universal Studios Japan to gain Pokémon expansion in 2022.

In other news, the former President of Nintendo of America Reggie Phils-Aime said that "because of the Xbox, the industry has become better", and also revealed that he owned an Xbox before purchasing the GameCube.

Elsewhere, Doug Bowser, the current president of Nintendo of America, also appeared in the news after sharing that Nintendo had "acted" on the ongoing controversy within Activision Blizzard.
