Sources told Front Office Sports that Amazon has become a leader in buying minority stakes in NFL media assets.
According to sources, the tech giant is negotiating with the country's wealthiest sports league to acquire up to 49% of NFL Network, RedZone and NFL.com. The $10 billion alliance hired Goldman Sachs in June to negotiate a deal to sell a large amount of NFL Media.
But a source warned that the transaction with Amazon has not yet been completed, and last-minute obstacles may delay the final agreement for several months.
If successful, the agreement will mark a big step in the growing business relationship between Amazon and the NFL.
Both the NFL and Amazon declined to comment.
